Local Scholarships for BHS Seniors

Baxter Springs High School is very fortunate to have quite a large number of local scholarships donated by generous past graduates and community/business members each year.  This means the only students competing for these scholarships are Baxter Springs High School seniors.  Local scholarships that are offered to our seniors are:  Alumni Classes of 1946 through 1950 Scholarship; American Bank Scholarship; Amy E. Mehaffy Memorial Scholarship; Baxter Springs 
Chamber of Commerce Scholarship; Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship; B.T. Chapter of PEO Scholarship; Chris Williamson Memorial Scholarship; Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship; Dorothy A. Taylor Memorial Scholarship; First National Bank of Miami Scholarship; Iva AuBuchon Eastern Star Memorial Scholarship; Gibson-Brunson Scholarship; Kiwanis Club Scholarship; Shannon Wyczynski Memorial Scholarship; and the Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship.  These scholarships are being offered to our seniors beginning now through the end of April. 
 
When a local scholarship application is available it will be posted on the senior bulletin board at school and will be listed under “Local Scholarships” on the counselor’s page on our high school website.  In fact most of the apps will be on the counselor’s page.  The seniors download the application and print them off from there.  The amount given and how it will be given is listed on each scholarship application.  Recipients of these scholarships will be announced and awarded at our Senior Awards Assembly at 1:00 pm on May 9th.   
 
The seniors and the staff at Baxter Springs High School are very appreciative of all the donations made to our seniors so they can further their education!  If you or an organization you belong to would like to begin a scholarship for our seniors please contact the high school counselor, Shelly Bottorff, at (620) 856-3366.
