Board Member
Occupation: Neurosurgeon at Freeman NeuroSpine/Freeman Health System
Decision for running for the Board of Education: I come from a family with several generations of teachers and was taught that education is the one thing that cannot be taken from you in life. I simply want to serve to help ensure that my children and future students receive a quality education that prepares them for their future endeavors as productive members of society.
Future achievements for USD #508:
1) Improve on the already high standards that the district has achieved.
2) Be the district that other districts measure/benchmark themselves against.
3) Continue to build a strong community/school relationship.
4) Continue to recruit/retain quality faculty and staff.
Additional Information: My wife, Terra, and I have two children in the school system and one still at home. While not originally from Baxter Springs, my children are the fifth generation of my family to go to school here. I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pittsburg State University, a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, a Doctorate from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and Post-Graduate residency training in neurosurgery from Ohio University. I enjoy attending my children's activities, spending time with my family, and the outdoors in my spare time.
