Developmentally Delayed Preschools: Applications taken all year long
This program is for 3,4 and 5 year olds that may have mild to moderate delays in speech/language, cognitive, gross and fine motor, behavior, self help skills or emotional.
Model Students: Applications due March 11th by 3:05
The Developmentally Delayed Programs have 16 openings for 3, 4 and 5yr. old model students for next year. Preference will be given to older students. Students cannot be a model if they have a delay or they qualify for any of the other preschool classes
Four year-old At Risk Preschool: Applications taken until class is full
This program is for children that will be 4yrs. old before Sept. 1st, 2010 and meet one of the following criteria for placement:
• living in a single parent home
• have a parent who was a teen parent
• have a parent lacking a high school diploma or GED
• low income (qualifies for free lunches)
• developmental or academically delayed
• SRS referral
• Limited English proficiency
• Child qualifies for Migrant status
Eligible Preschool Students
In order for a student to be eligible to participate in any of the district’s preschools one of the following criteria must be met:
• Student lives in the Baxter Springs School District or
• Student has a sibling that attends Baxter Springs Schools or
• Student’s parent(s) work for the Baxter Springs School District.
