Lincoln Receives Foundation Grant

The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation haws awarded Lincoln School a $350.00 minigrant. The money will fund a celebration called "A Week With the STARRS"----Students talking about reading and "riting success".
This event will take place in April and will enhance and highlight Lincoln's reading and writing programs. The goal is to excite the younger students and help all the primary children make the wonderful connection between writing and reading. The program will also communicate the importance of these connection to parents and the public. Each day of the week will profile a different author and highlight reading and writing skills as well as focus on a specific audience. The Lincoln grant wring tea consisted of: Missy Swob, Traci Bush, Carla Weston, Steve Wolfe, and project director, Vicki O'Neal.
The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1964. When author Keats died in 1983, his will directed that the royalties from his books be given to the Foundation to be used for the support of programs judged to be helpful to humanity. The Foundation has been dedicated to maintaining the goals and values of Keats by focusing on bettering the lives of children through programs to increase literacy, to inspire creativity and love of learning, and to enhance appreciation of arts in children, their families and communities: a total arts-in-education program.
