Occupation: Educator (I have been involved in the field of education in one way or another since I graduated from Pittsburg State in 1960).
Decision for running for the Board of Education: Initially, two community members contacted me suggesting that I run; however, the encouragement of my family, prayers for guidance, and a lifelong interest in education were the deciding factors.
Future achievements for USD #508: My ultimate goals are: (1.) The highest test scores in Kansas Kansas is one of the top three states in the nation, (2.) Students excited about learning/ teachers excited about teaching, (3.) The ability to meet the needs of all our students so they can mature into happy, productive members of society.
Additional Information: I have a vested interest in USD #508 as my husband, Bob, and I, are graduates of Baxter Springs schools. Both of our children, Lindy and Scott, are also graduates of USD 508. Our grandchildren, Summer, Laura, and Ryan are also proud graduates of BHS. Justin (12th grade) and Katie (11th grade) are currently enrolled in our school system.
